In case you missed it from my social media accounts, the title of this blog post, and the picture above–the whale is out of the tank! I am absolutely thrilled to announce Viking’s Children publisher has acquired The Celestial Seas. I’ve been sitting on this news for some time now and it’s so nice to finally share it with the world!

I’m so incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported this book, from its initial drafts to getting it through Pitch Wars in 2018, to its subsequent journey through the submission trenches. It’s hard to believe this story exists because my college roommate suggested I “paint a space whale” during watercolor night in our dorm.

As for now, I’m recovering from volunteering at the 2024 San Franciscos Writer’s Conference (click here to find out more). This is my third year volunteering at the conference, and as always, it’s a blast seeing familiar faces, meeting new writers, and attending all the wonderful panels and presentations. I have plans to share more about my experience and some of the things I learned at the conference in a future post, so be sure to stick around!
